Save the Hubble? 

Why did NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe decide that the Hubble Space Telescope just wasn't worth it anymore?

I am currently investigating this issue.  From first blush, it seems a waste of effort to NOT send the fourth servicing mission to the Hubble.  The instruments to upgrade the spacecraft are already built.  The safety issues concerning the Shuttle recommended by the Columbia Accident Investigation Board are being addressed on the next few flights.  This would put a servicing mission well within the current life being estimated for the Hubble.
